Seller lead cost per contract calculator
Cost per outcome is your lead charges plus other costs, minus approved credits, divided by the contracts or closings you got. Enter your own numbers. The result is the same whichever provider you use, and it tells you whether the leads worked, not just what they cost.
What does a signed contract cost me?
Enter what you spent on a batch of leads, what you got back in approved credits and how many contracts or closings you counted. If you have no results yet, estimate them from your own rates.
Cost per outcome
- Cost per signed contract

- Lead charges
- $3,380
- Approved credits
- -$169
- Net cost of the batch
- $3,491
- Signed contracts counted
- 2
The starting numbers are an example, not a result. Replace them with your own.
The starting numbers are an example, not DrivenSellers results. The price buttons fill in a listed price; you can type any price. The formula is the same for every provider, and nothing on this page adjusts the result for the one you pick.
Should I count signed contracts or closed deals?
Pick one outcome and keep it for the whole test. A signed contract is known within weeks. A closed deal can take months, and it always costs at least as much per outcome, because some contracts fall through.
- Signed contract: the seller signed a purchase or assignment agreement.
- Closed deal: the transaction closed, or the assignment fee was paid.
Do not mix them. If half your leads are still in follow-up, say so and wait before you call the test finished.
What counts as a cost, and what counts as a credit?
Count every lead in the batch, including the bad ones, plus the costs of working them. Subtract only credits that were actually approved for these leads.
- Leads bought and price per lead. On DrivenSellers that is the listed grade price: $99, $169, $249 or $349. On a bid-based platform, use your winning bids, not the minimum.
- Other costs: dialer minutes, texting, skip tracing for missing numbers, mileage to appointments.
- Fixed costs you allocate: the share of software or staff time the batch used. Leave it at zero for lead cost only, but say so when you share the number.
- Approved credits: a credit you asked for and did not get is not a credit. On DrivenSellers an approved request within 5 days goes back to your wallet, so it lowers your net cost once, here.
How are net cost and cost per outcome calculated?
Lead charges plus other costs plus fixed costs, minus approved credits, gives your net cost. Divide it by the outcomes to get the cost per outcome.
Lead charges = leads × price per lead
Net cost = lead charges + other costs + fixed costs - approved credits
Cost per outcome = net cost ÷ outcomes
Expected outcomes = leads × contacted × qualified × contract (× closed, for closed deals)
Each rate is a share of the step before it: qualified is a share of the sellers you reached, contracts a share of the qualified, closings a share of the contracts. Credits cannot be larger than the lead charges. With zero outcomes there is no cost per outcome, so the calculator shows your total spend instead of a misleading zero.
What does a counted batch look like?
Twenty grade B leads at $169 each, one credited back, two signed contracts and one closing give a cost of $17.45.50 per contract and $3,491 per closed deal.
Example: 20 B leads, counted results
Now try the same batch with zero contracts. The answer is not zero dollars per contract. It is $3,491 spent and no contract yet, and that is the number to judge against your budget.
How should I read my number?
Treat one month as a rough reading, not a rate. With 20 leads, one extra contract halves your cost. Compare like with like, and do not enter a grade as a probability.
- A grade is a guide to how likely a seller is to sell soon. It is not a conversion rate. Use your own contact and contract rates.
- If you test two sources, use the same outcome, the same buy box, the same follow-up and the same time window. A cheaper lead can still cost more per contract.
- Leads still open are not failures. Note them and rerun the numbers when they resolve.
- Outreach is your responsibility under federal and state calling and texting rules, including Do-Not-Call lists. Count compliance tools as an operating cost.
A plan does not lower the lead price on DrivenSellers, so enter the listed grade price whether or not you have a plan. The pricing page explains how plan fees and the wallet work.
Common questions
What is cost per contract?
Your net cost for a batch of leads, divided by the signed contracts you got from them. It tells you whether the leads worked, not only what they cost.
Does the calculator work for other providers?
Yes. The formula is the same for every provider. Enter the price you actually paid per lead.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. Nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.
Should I enter my grade as a close rate?
No. A grade is a guide to how likely a seller is to sell soon. Use your own contact, qualification and contract rates.
Why does it show total spend when I have no contracts?
Dividing by zero gives no cost per contract. Your total spend is the honest number until a contract signs.
